Generational Direct-to-Consumer Marketing: Generation Z

It is more important than ever for marketers to study and understand their audiences. This 4 part blog series will outline the main generations that marketers target with direct-to-consumer campaigns. Generation Z came around between 1995-2010. Gen Z’ers are known as “digital natives” for their quick assimilation into the tech world. Changing technologies are often of little concern to this generation, as “catching on quickly” is a huge part of the Gen Z make up. Marketing to this segment is a tricky task, but luckily, we’ve got you covered.


This generation is still comprised of teenagers and young adults; however, they have already made an appearance on the “Marketing Most Wanted” list. Generation Z is known as being self-aware, innovative, and exceedingly aware of their digital surroundings. There is a constant influx of marketing flowing into this generation, which can lead to most of it being ignored.  


Technology is on the forefront for this particular generation. They were born with it, they will live with it, and they will get old with it. The best way to get in front of this segment is often through targeted digital advertising. Ensuring that Gen Z sees your logo in a live and digital setting is essential. Digital ad targeting in conjunction with a direct mail campaign will result in overwhelming success with this particular generation.


Designing digital ad campaigns for this generation will likely be a task for someone who has done their research! Generation Z wants a quick, to-the-point message that they can absorb rapidly. From the point of receipt, they quickly to decide whether to move on from, or move further into the offer. Gen Z hasn’t been fully realized in the workplace yet, but it is never too soon to start factoring them into your targeted, direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns!
